Cannon has 30 years experience counseling with individuals, couples and families and has maintained a private practice as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the Dallas area for the last 20 years. in Clinical Psychology from the Professional School of Psychological Studies in San Diego.
She serves as a faculty member of the SDHIPM teaching team, and therefore offers mentorship and training regarding the unique psychological aspects of end-of-life care to students, staff, and other community constituents. Montross received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Iowa State University in 1994, and her Master’s of Counseling degree from Arizona State University in 1997. Afterward, she was chosen to become a National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Psychiatry Department of the University of California – San Diego (UCSD), where she specialized in Geriatric Psychiatry.
During her tenure at UCSD, she conducted both quantitative and qualitative research in areas of successful aging, suicide prevention, and medication efficacy.
In 2005, she received a grant from the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) to more thoroughly investigate the risk and protective factors for suicide among patients with schizophrenia.
Doris Klein, MA has over 20-years hands-on successful teaching experience. Klein earned her Master’s degree in 2012 in Arts and Organizational Management/Healthcare, and is working on her Ed D in Education. Klein has had the opportunity to instruct various healthcare courses with various Universities in San Diego CA as well as assisting students with gaining employment in the healthcare field. Klein encourages learning by using a number of different manipulatives, hands-on activity, and various forms of technology.
By incorporating classroom discussion, open-ended questions, and cooperative learning Ms.
Klein is able to facilitate a highly active class atmosphere. Doris holds an Executive MBA degree from San Diego State University, a doctorate degree from Florida State University in Sport Management, a M. degree in Health and Physical Education from Louisiana Tech University, and a bachelor degree in International Business from Ming Chuan University, Taipei, Taiwan. Her training in the fields of both medicine and psychology is augmented by invaluable experience gained while working with cutting-edge medical research laboratories for over a decade. Plourde’s well-rounded education and professional expertise provide the background necessary to research the 100-year history of medical literature to compile the information in an easily understandable format for all women.She has been working with various business entities, including trading companies, retailers, professional sport teams, marketing agencies, non-profit organizations, and diving centers. Her 20-years of research and expertise in the field of women’s health has resulted in her appearances on ABC’s 20/20, Berman & Berman: For Women Only, Good Morning America, The Gary Null Show, and numerous network news programs and radio shows across the country.In academia, her primary research interests include sport marketing, consumer behavior, service marketing, management, and sponsorship. She has also guest lectured at colleges, and universities, as well as women’s groups internationally.she has published studies in journals and given presentations at international, national and regional conferences. Hilse Barbosa is a National Certified Counselor with a Master Degree from San Jose State University is the owner and principal consultant of HB Services for Personal and Professional Development and a community college counselor.As a college instructor, she has taught various management and marketing courses. She has translated the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator into Portuguese, under publisher’s authorization, in order to study type and culture.Empowering students and providing guidelines to educate professionals is her passion to teach. Elizabeth Plourde is a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist, with a B. Her lectures, workshops and training programs are offered internationally in three languages and comprise four major areas: personal and career development, decision making, and the balance between culture and individuality.
